Latest Raygun photos prove one big thing
Rachael “Raygun” Gunn has been spotted outside Seven’s studios proving one big thing.
Rachael “Raygun” Gunn has been spotted outside Seven’s studios, proving that the controversial Olympian isn’t going anywhere.
Raygun, 37, took the Paris Olympic Games by storm with her questionable dance moves and matching tracksuit and has been doing the media rounds.
Her Olympic routine included mimicking a snake and a kangaroo and even breaking out the sprinkler.
The breakdancer became a viral meme after her controversial performance at the Olympics, which went so worldwide that she even got a mention in Jimmy Fallon’s opening late-night monologue.
At some point, A-list singer Adele was even pausing her sold-out shows to express her amusement over the break dancer.
When her Olympic performance went viral, Raygun went to ground a bit. The Olympics wrapped up in August, and she didn’t do an interview until September when she went on The Project.
On The Project she told Waleed Aly that being launched into worldwide fame overnight hadn’t been easy.
“Fortunately, I got some mental health support pretty quickly and I also went off social media, I went off the internet,” she said.
“It’s just still pretty hard to process.”
Since then, Raygun has become quite the media darling. She made a brief cameo at The Logies and has been on Today and Sunrise.
At one point, she was even out to dinner with Boy George.
She’s recently appeared on Today, where she’s clarified that she isn’t retiring, she’s just not going to compete in some tournaments
“I’m not retiring. You try and stop me. I’m not ever going to stop dancing.” She said.
“So if you hear that again, you know that it’s not the truth.”
When she appeared on Sunrise today, she spoke again about her initial reaction to her Olympic performance.
“A lot of people were confused by what they were seeing. They didn’t understand what they were seeing,” she said.
Raygun claimed that if people had “dug deeper” and ignored their initial knee-jerk reaction, they wouldn’t have been so quick to judge her.
“If (they) actually watched all six performances, then they see that actually there’s a little bit more here and ‘maybe I was a little bit quick to judge,” she said.
Despite the fact she’s been quite busy with public appearances she recently told The Sydney Morning Herald that she hadn’t quit her day job as a Macquarie University lecturer,
“I’m still marking papers to pay the bills,” she said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.
“I have a whole stack to mark right now,” she says. “And I still enjoy research and being in the classroom.”
