An Australian Olympic hockey player has reportedly been arrested for drug offences in Paris.
An Australian Olympian has been arrested in Paris.
The Australian Olympic Committee confirmed a hockey player is now in the custody of the French police following his arrest on Tuesday night.
“The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed an Australian hockey team member is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6th,” the committee said in a statement.
“No charges have been laid.”
“The AOC is continuing to make inquiries and arrange support for the team member.”
Media outlet Europe 1 broke the story, with the news posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, by reporter Jean-Baptiste Marty.
Mr Marty states the French police busted the Australian hockey team member with cocaine in Paris’ 9th arrondissement, which is on the northern side of the Seine River and includes the opulent Palais Garnier opera house.
The gender of the arrested athlete is unknown and details of the arrest and alleged crime are scarce.
