SALLY Pearson, Morgan Mitchell and a host of Australia’s Olympic hopefuls have gathered in Sydney to unveil their competition uniforms for the 2016 Games in Rio.
With just over three months to go before the opening ceremony, the Adidas uniforms were put on display at Circular Quay.
“The competition uniform is all about speed in an event where it can be decided by a matter of milliseconds,” is how Pearson’s kit was described.
Pearson, the reigning Olympic champion, who yesterday posted a video of herself running the hurdles for the first time since June 2015, said she is “full of belief and raring to go for Rio”.
“In previous years when I start hurdling it’s a little bit rusty, a little bit shaky, but I felt really confident this time around,” she said.
Young swimming sensations Kyle Chalmers and Madison Wilson were also at the launch along with Brooke Stratton (long jump), Holly Lincoln-Smith (water polo), Stephanie Talbot (women’s basketball) and Adam Gibson (men’s basketball)
Last week Chalmers and Wilson were among the 34 athletes named in Australia’s swimming team for Rio which brought the total team size to 126 from 10 sports with the anticipated group of 450 competitors to be finalised by mid-July.
