Woolworths launches 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralymics collector coins
The supermarket giant has kicked off a brand new collectables craze, just in time to celebrate the upcoming Olympics.
Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint are getting into the spirit of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games with the release of a limited edition coin range for shoppers to collect.
The range of $2 coins will celebrate the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams and will be available at supermarket registers with any purchase from July 14.
Six exclusive and unique coins will be available to collect, with a new coin released each week.
Five of the coins represent the colours of the Olympic rings, with a green and gold coin to represent the Paralympic Games.

A limited-edition Olympic coins collectors’ album containing five collective $2 coins will be available to purchase in store for $15. A Paralympic album containing the $2 collectable coin will be available for $3 from August 18.
As many as 12 million coins will be available for shoppers to collect at Woolworths stores across the country.
Paralympic Swimmer Ellie Cole said the coins were an exciting celebration of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
“Since competing professionally from 2003, it’s always been my goal to make sporting history and now Aussies have the chance to own their part of history with these limited-edition coins,” she said.
