Australian Olympian Anneliese Rubie tweets that a bigger bra could have helped fellow athlete Ella Nelson

AUSSIE Ella Nelson fell agonisingly short of a place in the Olympic finals. A teammate reckons an undergarment was to blame.

COULD a bra brouhaha be brewing in Brazil?

Just a day after a Japanese pole vaulter’s dreams of a medal glory were dashed by the size of his manhood, an Australian athlete has commented that a fellow sprinter’s chest size — or lack thereof — may have cost her an Olympic finals spot.

On Wednesday, Australian 200m runner Ella Nelson ran a personal best time in Rio finishing third in her heat.

But her dream run of 22.50 seconds counted for nothing when it emerged she had missed out on a finals spot by a minuscule one hundredth of a second.

“I’m lost for words, I just ran a PB at the Olympic Games,” Nelson told Channel Seven before it dawned on her it just wasn’t quite enough. “Really? Really?” she said, stunned at the result.

Fellow Australian athlete Anneliese Rubie, who also missed out on a finals spot in the 400m, wondered if just a bit more bulk in the chest department would have pushed Nelson across the line.

“Omg 0.01!!!!! So, so close to that final spot,” tweeted Rubie. “#needabiggerbra,” she added.

Australian discus thrower Benn Harradine also got involved in matters mammary.

The 117kg athlete, who cheekily snapped a bowl of condoms in the Olympic Village, chimed in on Twitter lamenting that she could not borrow his muscular protruding pecs.

“You just need my double D’s,” he wrote. “But PB (personal best) at OGs (Olympic Games) is worthy (of) a chocolate bar.”

Whether a bigger bra would have helped or not, Ella Nelson’s performance — one of the fastest ever from an Australian at the games — has her tipped for the top at the next Olympic Games in Tokyo.
