Athletes are using an exclusive dating app to hook up in the Olympic Village

Aussie basketballer Cayla George has revealed her single teammates have turned to technology in their quest to find Olympic romance.

Life in the Tokyo Olympic Village has seemingly taken a frisky turn, with reports of athletes from across the world taking to an exclusive dating app for casual hook-ups.

While rumours of raunchy behaviour emerges at each Olympic Games, many would have assumed strict coronavirus protocols this year would have stood in their way in Tokyo.

Apparently the global pandemic has done little to kerb the appetites of athletes though, with talk of an app called Olinda connecting those looking to blow off some extra steam.

The prevalence of the app and rampant racy antics within the village was confirmed on Friday by Aussie basketballer Cayla George.

“Yeah I have heard about it, just recently actually. It’s a pretty hot app in the village,” she told Mix 102.3 hosts Erin Phillips and Mark Soderstrom.

“I haven’t got on it myself, obviously for reasons called marriage, but apparently its all the craze.”

George added how she had been enjoying observing the outcomes of the app for the single athletes on the Australian team.

“I’m not on the app, I’m just living vicariously through my single teammates,” she said.

The Boomers legend also shared her insight on the infamous Olympic cardboard “anti-sex” beds, dispelling the myth they weren’t designed to take on the weight of two people.

“I think they’ve made them strong enough to withstand that kind of behaviour. I think they’re pretty solid,” she said.

“There’s some really big athletes around.”

Regular citizens from across the world have also discovered a loophole on dating app Tinder that allows them to scroll through people as though they were in Tokyo.

By paying for a premium subscription of the app, users can set their geographical location to anywhere they like.

Many have been using the sneaky tactic to try their luck with athletes preparing for competition.
