Parramatta is reportedly set to make an official complaint to the NRL over Cronulla’s hit job on Mitchell Moses.

Moses was left hobbling in the second half after a series of bruising hits from Sharks players in Cronulla’s thrilling 18-16 win.

The special attention Moses received from the Sharks was highlighted by a dangerous tackle from Teig Wilton, when Moses had his legs cut out from underneath him as he jumped into the air to catch a bomb.

He landed awkwardly and immediately complained to the referee.

It came after he had also complained about a late tackle from centre Jesse Ramien. He was also carrying an apparent corked quad muscle that left him hobbling on the field after a heavy tackle from Connor Tracey.

Wilton was on Sunday hit with a Grade 2 dangerous contact charge and will be suspended for one week if he accepts an early guilty plea.

He was not sent to the sin bin for the tackle.

It was all too much for the Eels, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper reports Parramatta is privately furious about the treatment Moses received and are preparing to make a formal complaint to NRL football operations boss Graham Annesley.

Balmain great Benny Elias, who is the uncle of the Eels halfback, has told The Telegraph: “Those atrocities aren’t in the laws of rugby league”.

His anger was earlier supported by Fox League commentators.

“You just do that any more,” rugby league great Steve Roach said during the game.

Commentator Dan Ginnane said it was “ugly”.

Despite, the extra heat and injury concerns, Moses stood up for his team and had a monster game,

“It was outstanding from Mitchell Moses because there’s been a lot of pressure on him to run,” said Fox League’s Greg Alexander.

“The game against the Cowboys ignited his running game and he did the same against Melbourne when they had a win and today he has taken on the defence a couple of times.

“The first one was a great individual try where he splits open the two big boys, gets around Kalyn Ponga. It was a marvellous from a halfback who’s been under the pump at the end of the season.

“For the second the front-rowers link with Moses and (Clint) Gutherson and Penisini break the game open. I think it was his best 40 minutes of the season.”
