ANDREW Fifita has given fans a glimpse inside the Tongan camp, showing off his practical jokes and revealing how ill-disciplined players are “punished” by teammates.

The Pacific island nation face Rugby League World Cup heavyweights New Zealand on Saturday in what has been billed as the game of the tournament.

You’d be forgiven for thinking it would be all steely focus from the players, but that’s not the case, with the squad - led by chief prankster Andrew Fifita- enjoying plenty of laughs.

On Thursday, Fifita shared a video from training showing players being “punished’by having to crawl through a tunnel of players while being playfully slapped on the head and back.

Sources inside the squad revealed the reasons for these lighthearted punishments, including being late for a team meeting or wearing the wrong team attire.

Even staff aren’t exempt from the ritual if they step out of line, though we don’t imagine head coach Kristian Woolf has had to run the gauntlet.

The fun doesn’t stop there, with Fifita posting several videos throughout the tournament of his pranks on unsuspecting teammates, the chief victim being Konrad Hurrell.

If team morale helps you win tournaments, don’t rule out the Tongans for challenging the Kangaroos and Kiwis at the pointy end of this World Cup.
