Manly star Tom Trbojevic has called an emergency meeting with his agent following the sudden sacking of Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler.

After months of negotiations, legal threats and chaos, on Thursday the Sea Eagles confirmed Hasler’s employment had been terminated immediately with a year to run on his contract.

Trbojevic will have a Zoom meeting with his manager Paul Sutton on Friday as the fullback grows increasingly concerned about the situation at Manly.

“Tom will sit down over Zoom with his management company to discuss his future and what that holds,” rugby league reporter Michael Chammas told Nine News.

“Tomorrow is a big day for the club.”

Channel 9’s Danny Weidler added: “It would not be a surprise if he asked for a release from his rich deal.”

It comes a day after Sutton told News Corp Tom and brother Jake felt the club was “imploding”.

The Trbojevic brothers are close with Hasler and his departure casts doubt over their future at Brookvale.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Thursday the two brothers requested a clause during their last contract negotiations that would allow them to become free agents if Hasler left. Manly did not agree to such a clause.

Jake Trbojevic is currently in England as part of Australia’s Rugby League World Cup squad.

Tom’s Dally M Medal-winning season steered Manly to a top four finish in 2021, but that result was the lone highlight during Hasler’s second stint with the club.

The Trbojevic brothers share the same management company as Hasler.

Sutton, from the SFX Sports Group, said Tom and Jake were “disappointed in the club’s behaviour.”

“They feel that the club that they love is imploding in front of their eyes,” Sutton said on Thursday.

“They are really down in the dumps with the place.

“If it continues, it is wearing and once the place becomes unsavoury, what do you do? If it becomes untenable …”

“Obviously you’d assume Tommy would be a Sea Eagle for life but all the internal rumblings and conflict have taken a toll on him mentally.

“He has expressed to me his disappointment in the club’s behaviour. He has expressed he is unhappy – both Jake and Tom have.

“Jake has called me from England expressing how unhappy he is with the club. It’s the same as with Tom, this has taken a toll on him.

“All this has probably changed the narrative in terms of how they felt in the past.”

Sutton added: “We haven’t spoken to any other clubs.”

Tom and Jake are both contracted until the end of the 2026 season and at this stage it’s unlikely they will walk out on Manly after Hasler’s sacking.

Former Rabbitohs and Broncos coach Anthony Seibold appears poised to take over as Manly coach.

News Corp’s Brent Read told Triple M: “Manly has been communicating with those guys. They’re pretty well across what’s going on. They’re not going anywhere.

“They’re the heart and soul of that footy club and there’s no way would let them go. They’ll sort it out.

“They know Seibs (Seibold), he’s worked there before, they’ve worked with him as an assistant. They like Seibs from what I’m told. I’ve spoken to Tommy and he told me he likes Seibs.

“I think it’ll be fine, I think they’ll work it out. They’re too important to let go, those two blokes.”
