TITANS boss Michael Searle says departing NRL chief executive David Gallop will be remembered as the leader who gave the Gold Coast a "wonderful gift" with their introduction to the competition in 2007.

While the future structure of the Titans remains clouded amid financial uncertainty, Searle said the Titans remain thankful that they were given a chance to enter the NRL five years ago.

"David has been a wonderful servant of the game, particularly to drive the interests of the game in Queensland," Searle said. "His support of the expansion to the Gold Coast was a wonderful gift to rugby league in Queensland.

"I'm sure he will be sorely missed by all in the game.

"I wish him all the very best and particularly to him getting his life back. The amount of hours and the work he has had to conduct over so many years, I'm sure his family will enjoy having him back."

Broncos chief executive Paul White praised Gallop for his performance in a difficult job and noted how honest he had been.

"David has been a servant to the game for over 10 years and has navigated rugby league through a number of complex and challenging issues," White said.

"As a professional I hold him in the highest regard and as a person his interactions with myself have always been carried out with a degree of honesty and integrity and for that we thank him and wish him all the best for the future."
