‘That place absolutely stinks’: Tigers shredded in legend’s brutal takedown

There is nothing you can say after a 72-6 thrashing and at least one NRL legend at the hands of the Roosters and there’s “absolutely nothing” Brett Kimmorley can say to fix their woes.

It was a sombre mood inside the Tigers’ sheds after their 72-6 thrashing at the hands of the Roosters and there’s “absolutely nothing” interim coach Brett Kimmorley can say to fix their woes, according to Corey Parker.

The Tigers suffered their biggest loss in the club’s history and are on track to receive their first wooden spoon after the bloodbath at the SCG.

They let in 10 tries before finally getting on the board, only for the Roosters to stick the dagger in with two more tries in the final five minutes.

After the game Fox League cameras showed a silent Tigers shed with Kimmorley sitting in the corner yawning.

Asked what Kimmorley can or should do next, Parker said: “Go and have a good sleep ‘Noddy’ because there’s nothing else you can do.

“I’ve given them a bit of a bath to be fair, but him yawning there is what they’ve done — they’ve put him to sleep,” he added.

“There is absolutely nothing ‘Noddy’ can say to the team after a 72-point thrashing that’s going to resonate with any of them, trust me.

“He’s not there next year, he doesn’t have a part in the club, they’ve just had 72 points put on them, every individual cannot look each other in the eye and he’s going to sit there and address them?

“Please, just walk out, let them do their own thing, sometimes less is more — there is not a word he can say. They’ll have individuals stand up and say ‘boys I'm sorry,’ it’s rubbish, it’s absolute rubbish.

“Get your gear, get in the showers — or don’t even have a shower — get in the car and get out of there.”

Parker called the Tigers’ performance “dismal, awful” and “putrid,” before putting the onus on incoming coaches Tim Sheens and his assistant Benji Marshall, who will officially take the reins next season.

“Tim Sheens has got to work out who he wants in the team,” Parker said.

“When he took over and Benji Marshall as announced as assistant they should have sat everyone down in a room and said ‘everyone in this room is on notice.’

“That place absolutely stinks, there is nothing going good for those guys.

“They turn up every week, they go about their business and they say all the right things (in interviews) — all good intentions, I’ve got no doubt about that. But when shots are fired and it comes to game time they just quite simply not delivered.”
