South Sydney Rabbitohs recreate iconic Top Gun ‘beach scene’ on Vegas trip
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have taken “playing with the boys” to another level by recreating iconic film scenes before their historic Las Vegas debut.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are clearly enjoying all America has to offer before they star in the NRL’s historic Las Vegas debut.
Before they go head-to-head with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles this weekend, the team enjoyed a day at the beach recreating iconic scenes from the Top Gun movie series.

The Rabbitohs Facebook page posted videos of the team bonding over games of American football and beach volleyball with the caption, “playing with the boys,” referencing the Kenny Loggins song of the same name which defined the 1986 original film.
“Who did it better – Cookie or Miles Teller? If your answer ain’t Cookie, get outta here,” read another video of hooker Damien Cook recreating the viral Top Gun: Maverick ‘beach scene’.
“The boys did it better than Top Gun!,” one fan commented underneath the post.
“I vote Cookie!! He’s got the moves right,” posted another.
“What a crack up good to see the lads enjoying themselves,” a third replied to the lighthearted club promo.
Despite the Hollywood-style leisure activities, the Rabbitohs have been hard at work under head coach Jason Demetriou ahead of their highly-anticipated debut at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to their busy social media team, the South Sydney squad have been training at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and Las Vegas Raiders HQ in the lead-up to the series opener.
The ambitious double-header comes after years of speculation about a “US invasion” for the National Rugby League – and with the teams clearly in prime form the moment has finally arrived.
