In a telling development, Mason was again seen without her engagement ring while returning to work for the first time since it was made public last month that she has called off her wedding plans.
Mason had planned to get married in October, before news broke her relationship with ex-partner Todd Liubinskas has fallen apart.
According to a report last week, the 30-year-old has been asked to hand back her engagement ring.
Friends of Mason have described her as “beyond devastated” and “completely heartbroken”.
The ring was not visible on her finger throughout Channel 9’s early coverage of the NRL’s Grand Final day when she was in the live site studio and when she was on the ground ahead of the NRLW Grand Final — played in fierce 30C weather that has forced the NRL to make emergency plans.
Mason had been seen wearing the ring in recent appearances on Channel 9.
Mason was a consummate professional during the broadcast alongside NRL legends, including Andrew Johns and Billy Slater, and was seen regularly smiling and laughing at comments made by the rest of the panel.
Mason was earlier this week involved in a scheduled web-series video with Johns where she was again seen smiling and making jokes of her own.
