Russell Crowe inspired by Rabbitohs last gasp win over Roosters
RUSSELL Crowe was "inspired" by South Sydney's stunning last-second win over the Roosters on Monday night.
HE INSPIRED Hollywood in Gladiator but Russell Crowe was himself "inspired" by South Sydney's stunning last-second win over the Roosters on Monday night.
The Daily Telegraph emailed Crowe yesterday asking for his emotional thoughts on the match after learning he was filming in Iceland.
He replied moments later with just one word: INSPIRING. We fired back another email asking he elaborate but Crowe had disappeared into the Iceland frost.
INGLIS SET TO MISS OUT
SOUTHS star Greg Inglis is battling a knee injury and we have been tipped off that he won't play in Saturday night's big match against St George Illawarra at ANZ Stadium. Inglis set up the Rabbitohs first try on Monday night with a typical barnstorming run.
KNIGHTS SWITCH FOR SMITH
THE deal may not yet be done but expect Cronulla forward Jeremy Smith to be a Newcastle Knight next season. Smith is ready to ask Cronulla for a release from the final year of his contract on compassionate grounds. The money Cronulla save on Smith can be thrown at Luke Lewis.
Lewis, meanwhile, hopes to reach a decision on his future by Friday with Cronulla and Wests Tigers remaining favourites. Despite a big money offer, it seems Lewis will spurn Parramatta.
Back-rower Dene Halatua re-signed with Canterbury last week - knocking back good money from the Sharks.
STUART'S CAPITAL ROLE
THE GOLDEN SOLUTION

ONE interesting proposal regarding golden point reached our ears during the week.
A rugby league punter came up with an interesting idea for extra time, saying any missed field goal attempt should then revert to a hand-over from where the kick took place.
That, he claims, would stop the field goal-a-thons we now see. Certainly worth considering.
