‘Rotten luck’: Doueihi’s suspected third ACL injury in cruel Tigers double blow — Casualty Ward
Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens has confirmed some horrible news for the club as he described Monday’s game as a “nightmare”.
Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens has confirmed the club doctor suspects star five-eighth Adam Doueihi has suffered the third ACL injury of his career.
“They think it is (an ACL). The doctor is pretty sure it is one, but we’ll know more tomorrow (when he goes for scans),” Sheens said.
“If it’s confirmed to be an ACL, he’ll be out for the season. Maybe even more.
“Ask me tomorrow how I’m feeling when I wake up and realise it wasn’t a nightmare.”

Sheens confirmed it’s Doueihi same knee - his left - which the 24-year-old has previously injured.
“Obviously we feel very sorry for Adam, he’s a big part of the team,” Tigers captain Api Koroisau said.
“The boys we’ll get around him and make sure he has the support but he’s going to be feeling pretty down for a while.”
Doueihi leapt above the pack to defuse a short Eels dropout in the 72nd minute but landed awkwardly and immediately reached for his left knee.
“Oh dear, fingers crossed here, it’s certainly more than cramp,” Andrew Voss said on Fox League after Doueihi went down.
“I think it is Andrew, yes. Did he land awkwardly after jumping? Sometimes just the (body) weight can (cause injury),” Greg Alexander responded.
“The knee can buckle in those situations and it’s happened to Doueihi before. Sometimes that’s all it can take, just landing awkwardly, the pressure being on a certain part of your leg and there doesn’t have to be much in it for it to be serious, and let’s hope it’s not.”
Doueihi’s injury came just after the Tigers centre Brent Naden broke his collarbone in act of scoring to set up grandstand finish.
Parramatta skipper Clint Gutherson came and gave Doueihi a pat on the back as his rival left the field.
“He’s had two knee reconstructions in his career so he would know the feeling. You feel the pain don’t you, he’s done well to hang onto the ball,” Voss said.
“So very much fingers crossed for Adam, he looks a little defeated there.”
Doueihi suffered ACL injuries in 2019 and 2021 and after several minutes in the sheds on Sunday, Fox League sideline reporter Matt Russell said the club couldn’t rule out another.
“The club can’t dismiss ACL, not confirmed but the club is definitely looking at ACL,” Russell said.
“Horrible news,” Voss responded.
James Hooper described it as “rotten luck” on NRL 360.
WARRIORS LOSE DUO
Warriors five-eighth Te Maire Martin is looking at a lengthy stint on the sideline after suffering a fractured fibula in the second half against the Knights.
Martin sustained the injury in the 45th minute in a tackle while he was attempting to score a try.
“It is similar (to a hip drop),” Nathan Hindmarsh said post-game on the Matty Johns Show.
“It’s not nice. It’s not nice at all.”
Martin’s teammate Wayde Egan will have to miss next week’s clash against the Cowboys after failing his HIA.
Knights captain Jayden Brailey was the third player to leave the field in the brutal clash, assisted off the ground in the 61st minute.
“The Knights are concerned about a meniscus injury. He’ll be sent for scans in the coming days,” sideline reporter Darcie McDonald said on Fox League.
ADDO-CARR UNDERGOES SURGERY
Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould has confirmed Josh Addo-Carr will be sidelined for eight weeks after he was carried off in the first half against the Rabbitohs.
The Kangaroos superstar was sent in for surgery on Saturday afternoon on a syndesmosis injury and also injured his right MCL.
Gould also shared an image of Addo-Carr smiling prior to his surgery, as well as X-ray images of his ankle.
“The Foxx has been fixed,” he wrote.
Josh Addo-Carr is booked in for ankle surgery. Surgeon organising now and should be this afternoon. Tightrope for syndesmosis.

He has also injured his right knee medial ligament. They have put him in a brace. Generally an 8 week recovery time for return to play. @NRL_Bulldogs
MANLY’S BRUTAL DUAL BLOW
Sea Eagles utility Karl Lawton once again looks set for a stint on the sidelines after injuring his left shoulder.
The 27-year-old came out of a tackle reeling, nursing his arm before he was helped from the field by club medical staff.
“This is not good,” Michael Ennis said.

Lawton’s career has been hampered by injury, suffering a ruptured ACL in June last year after playing nine games in 2022.
Meanwhile, Reuben Garrick also failed his HIA and failed to return to the field.
DOLPHINS LOSE ENFORCER IN HIA DRAMA
Veteran prop Jarrod Wallace will miss the Dolphins’ Round 7 clash with the Rabbitohs after the bunker ruled he had suffered a category one concussion in Friday’s clash with the Cowbys.
Wallace’s head collided with the hip of a Cowboys player in a tackle and he struggled to get to his feet afterwards.
He was taken from the field by a Dolphins trainer for a HIA and it was revealed at half time that he would not return.
However there was a bit of drama in that decision with sideline reporter Brent Tate reporting that Wallace had passed his tests, but the bunker intervened.
“A little big of conjecture down here on the bench. He’s passed all his HIA protocols in the sheds but the bunker has ruled it a category one. So the Dolphins are not happy on the bench,” he said.
SHARKS STAR SET FOR LENGTHY SIDELINE STINT
Sharks enforcer Toby Rudolf has been ruled out for three months after suffering a foot injury against the Warriors in Round 5.
According to a club statement, scans have confirmed that the 27-year-old has damaged a joint in his big toe and the blow required surgery.
Rudolf went under the knife in Tuesday and will now spend an extended period on the sidelines.
The hulking prop has become an integral figure in Cronulla’s forward pack, playing 71 games since joining the club.
