Ricky Stuart has revealed he had an honest conversation with halfback Jamal Fogarty regarding reports he was being targeted by the Sea Eagles who have a $1 million war chest.

Following Daly Cherry-Evans’ shock reveal his time in Manly would come to an end following the 2025 season, Sea Eagles powerbrokers are set to hit the open market.

Fogarty, as well as Broncos gun Adam Reynolds and Titans veteran Kieran Foran have been identified as replacements according to Code Sports.

The Raiders no.7 is off-contract with the Raiders, however Canberra powerbrokers have until Round 6 to decide whether they activate a clause to extend his $650,000 contract into 2026.

If the Raiders don’t take up the club option, Fogarty will become a free agent in just over two weeks.

He also has a player option in his contract, which he can take up by Round 20 to remain in the nation’s capital, but Stuart has explained he won’t stand in his way.

“I spoke to Jamal this week, we haven’t taken too much notice of the media because we had to prepare for a game of football,” Stuart said prior to his side’s clash with the Cowboys.

“But to answer your question, I basically said ‘if you have got a big deal out there mate that’s going to be the best thing for Kahlia and the girls, you take that but I want you at the club’.

“I don’t know where they are with Manly at the moment, but I’m not too concerned either. I’m trying to win a game of football.”

Fogarty management reportedly approached Raiders bosses, requesting permission to negotiate with rival clubs during the off-season, which was denied.
