A new era at the Bulldogs will also include a new fullback.

7 News reports Canterbury has signed Queensland and South Sydney player Corey Allan on a three-year deal in a major boost to Trent Barrett’s outfit.

Allan provided solid cover for Latrell Mitchell when he was injured last season and appears set to build on the late-season form that saw him elevated to the Maroons side by grabbing a starting spot with the Dogs.

The fullback position was unsettled at Canterbury with high-profile 2019 signing Dallin Watene-Zelezniak losing his grip on the spot and moving to the wing last year.

Young star Jake Averillo was also seen as an option but in Allan the Bulldogs have a player who set up the opening try and ran the ball well on debut in the Maroons’ Game Three triumph.

The 22-year-old will join fellow new signings Nick Cotric (Raiders), Kyle Flanagan (Roosters), Corey Waddell (Sea Eagles) and Jack Hetherington (Panthers).

There was speculation late last year Melbourne Storm was interested in the 29-game player’s services as it plans to cover the departure of Josh Add0-Carr after this season, but instead it looks like Allan and the Fox will be teammates at Canterbury.
