Broncos legend Corey Parker has urged the Red Hill club to make superstar fullback Reece Walsh the highest-paid player in the organisation’s history.

As it stands Walsh will reportedly earn just $400,000 in 2024, with his current deal expiring at the end of 2025 after making the switch from the Warriors.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting Broncos powerbrokers have already begun discussions to upgrade his contract amid a salary cap squeeze.

Brisbane are also negotiating extensions for Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam, while veteran backrower Kurt Capewell is reportedly set to join the Warriors.

Upon returning to the Broncos, Walsh was one of the NRL’s best players and as such, Parker believes he is deserving of a huge payday.

“I think they have to pay Reece Walsh a million bucks and probably more actually,” Parker said to News Corp.

“He should be the highest-paid player at the Broncos... It’s not just his talent on the field, it’s his marketing value off it.

“It’s simply unbelievable the impact he has had on the Broncos on and off the field.”

Only two players in the Broncos’ history have ever reach seven figure salaries — anthony Milford and Payne Haas.

Parker explained that Walsh is deserving of $1.1 million-per-year if Haas is currently earning $1 million, but the Broncos do have a headache on their hands.

“The big challenge for the Broncos is paying these guys what they deserve, especially if they keep winning,” Parker said.

“To be honest, I don’t see how they keep all their guys.”

The Broncos have already lost both Herbie Farnworth and Tom Flegler to the Dolphins, who have also made their interest in five-eighth Mam clear.
