SOUTH Sydney enforcer Tom Burgess could be the latest player to follow Jarryd Hayne out of the NRL and make the jump to NFL.

The 22-year-old prop recently re-signed with the Rabbitohs for one season as he keeps his options open for a potential code switch in 2017.

The Weekend Australian is reporting that Burgess rejected a big money offer from Manly to extend his current deal with the defending premiers as he is undecided on where his long-term future lies.

“Tom did not refuse any offer from clubs other than Souths because of any interest from the NFL,” said Burgess’s manager, Chris Caisley.

“He agreed to extend his contract with Souths because he loves the club and is extremely happy there.”

Burgess has drawn physical comparisons to that of New England Super Bowl winning star Rob Gronkowski.

It is believed that unlike Hayne, who is chasing a career as a running back, Burgess could slot into the offence as a tight end.

Only a few months ago. the Englishman’s older brother Sam, was granted a release from his Rabbitohs contract in order to switch codes and chase his dream of representing England in the rugby union World Cup.

The club also lost Queensland Origin star Ben Te’o to Irish rugby.
