SOUTH Sydney utility Luke Keary is in doubt for Friday’s NRL clash with the Wests Tigers.

Keary was on Wednesday hobbling around the club’s Redfern headquarters after rolling his ankle in last week’s golden point loss to Gold Coast.

While Keary insisted to reporters that he would be fine, he will undergo a fitness test on Thursday to determine if he will take to ANZ Stadium.

“He’s all right, obviously we need to assess him tomorrow,” Maguire said.

“There are some good signs for Friday’s game.”

Off-contract at the end of this season, Keary is being forced to play for his future while coming off the bench.

He was demoted from the starting side after Maguire switched skipper Greg Inglis to five-eighth.

He has attracted interest from rugby union, and last month backed himself to make a successful transition to Super Rugby if given the chance.

He has also been linked with a move to St George Illawarra, with the future of veteran Benji Marshall in doubt.

Luke Keary has been linked with a switch to the Dragons, or rugby union.

“He’s come on and brought a lot of energy to what we’ve been doing,” Maguire said.

“He can start, he can come off the bench. He’s jumped into dummy half, he plays off the back of the forwards getting forward. He’s a quality player.”
