Queensland great Carl Webb diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease

Rugby league has been rocked by the news Queensland great Carl Webb has been diagnosed with early-onset Motor Neurone Disease.

Former Queensland Origin star Carll Webb has been diagnosed with early onset Motor Neurone Disease.

Webb, 38, played 187 games throughout his NRL career with three clubs and played in 15 State of Origin matches.

News of his diagnosis was released on the Queensland Rugby League website and rocked the NRL community.

His playing career spanned 11-years and saw him play for the Brisbane Broncos, Parramatta Eels and North Queensland Cowboys.

The disease progressively damages the nervous system and shuts down other parts of the body.

Webb is the latest sports star to be hit with the degenerative and incurable disease after South African rugby union player Joost van der Westhuizen passed away in 2017. AFL great Neale Daniher and England rugby league international Rob Burrow have also been diagnosed with the condition in recent years.
