Paul Gallen’s all-time handshake snub on Sharks star Ronaldo Mulitalo

An NRL star couldn’t believe his eyes when a great of the game left him clutching for air in a moment that left fans in absolute stitches.

Sharks star Ronaldo Mulitalo has gone through every emotion under the sun after he was hilariously left hanging by club legend Paul Gallen on live TV.

Mulitalo scored a try, ran for 103m and made two offloads in the Cronulla Sharks’ 28-6 thrashing of the Melbourne Storm, which was headlined by Brandon Smith’s sin binning.

But in the sheds after the match during a live cross, Paul Gallen delivered another all-time handshake snub.

Players are regularly interviewed in the change rooms after matches by the Channel 9 commentators and it increases the opportunity for the accidental cold shoulder.

I mean, who could forget Billy Slater being snubbed by Phil Gould, Wayne Bennett refusing Brad Fittler offering his handtwice, and Andrew Johns leaving Panthers star Taylan May to find solace in his centre partner Izack Tago.

Gallen approached Mulitalo while the winger was on his phone, shaking his hand on the way in.

But after a few questions about the match, Gallen gave him a nod, said “well done mate, chat to you soon” before turning tail.

The story was told on Mulitalo’s face as he went in smiling, went through an existential crisis as he was left hanging and resigned himself to shaking his own hand.

WWOS’ Simon Brunsdon picked up on the moment, tweeted: “Paul Gallen with one of the best handshake snubs ever seen on live TV. Poor Ronaldo.”

It was never going to just drift off into the ether either and both men reacted to the scene on social media.

Mulitalo took to Instagram, posting a story of the video with the caption: “Thanks @paulgallen13, still mad you’ve never beaten me in a race I see”.

Gal responded with a post of his own, writing: “I would never leave my 36th favourite player at Cronulla hanging. Sorry my man”.

Mulitalo replied: “36 is a funny way to say number 1 gal. @nolimit_aus I’m ready to step in”.

For those not in the know, No Limit Boxing has promoted Gallen’s last few fights against Darcy Lussick and Kris Terzievski.

Our money’s on Gallen.
