Parramatta’s Mitchell Moses shares baby photos after missing birth of first child

Parramatta Eels playmaker Mitch Moses has shared photos of his newborn baby, after he made the heartbreaking call to miss the birth.

The Eels halfback and his partner Bri Gardoni shared the first photos and footage of their baby girl, which was born last Friday.

“ASPYN ELLE MOSES 23.09.2022 - We couldn’t be more in love with you,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post.

The post featured heartwarming photos of Moses cradling his first child.

The 28-year-old made the gut-wrenching decision to miss his baby’s birth on Friday so he could play in Parramatta’s preliminary final against North Queensland in Townsville.

Moses and the Eels flew up to Townsville on Thursday with Bri beginning contractions on Thursday night.

His decision paid off, as the Eels upset the Cowboys 24-20 to book their place in their first NRL Grand Final since 2009.

Speaking to Channel 9 after the game, Moses revealed he met his daughter on FaceTime.

“The whole week has been a rollercoaster. I lost my grandmother last week and we laid her to rest on Monday,” he said.

“I’m welcoming my first child over FaceTime for the first time deadset four hours ago and now I’m playing in a Grand Final next week.

“I’ll be getting the boys on the plane as quick as possible so I can go meet my little one. We’ve got two names but she didn’t want to make the call by herself so she’s waiting for me to get there and then we’ll make the call.”

“It’s good, I’m really happy for the boys – we made a lot of sacrifices along the way,“ Eels coach Brad Arthur told reporters in the post-match press conference.

“Mitchell Moses made a massive sacrifice for his teammates today and over the last couple of days. He didn’t get to see the birth of his daughter – that’s huge.

“It was never really a process or a thought for him – we got on the plane yesterday, Bri was close the other day and I spoke to him today and I said ‘we will send you home’.

“I don’t want to be rude, because the birth of his new daughter is so important to him and his family, but the other part of his family is his mates.

“At least we made sure it was worth it.”

Parramatta will take on reigning premiers Penrith in the season decider in Sydney on Sunday night.
