Panthers prop Spencer Leniu suffers a ruptured testicle at training
Collision injuries happen a lot of NRL training but Penrith big man Spencer Leniu suffered one of the more painful blows.
Penrith has been hit with another injury blow with hard-running prop Spencer Leniu was forced to have surgery after suffering a ruptured testicle.
Leniu, who is also being scouted by NSW selectors ahead of State of Origin, suffered the horror injury during “a high impact opposed training session‘’ on Wednesday night.
The club confirmed on Friday morning that Leniu required surgery at Nepean Hospital, ruling him out of the clash with the Roosters.
A time frame for his return couldn’t be confirmed.
“Panthers prop Spencer Leniu has been ruled out after suffering a high impact injury at an opposed training session on Wednesday night,” the club statement said.
“The incident resulted in Leniu suffering a ruptured testicle, which required him to undergo surgery at Nepean Hospital.
“The representative prop is recovering well at home, with a return-to-play date yet to be determined.”
It’s not the first instance of an NRL player suffering the same injury.
Former Warriors half Chanel Harris-Tavita missed four matches in 2021 and Cowboys half Tom Dearden returned within two matches last year with the aid of a protective guard.
