NRLW finals teams: Isabelle Kelly cleared of fractured elbow and named for Roosters, Jess Sergis and Tarryn Aitken named in reserves
Roosters star centre Isabelle Kelly has been cleared of a fractured elbow and has been named for the Roosters, while another injured duo are among the reserves and are a chance of returning. See the full NRLW semi-finals teams analysis.
Sydney Roosters skipper Isabelle Kelly remains a chance to face Newcastle in Sunday’s NRLW semi-final after being cleared of a fractured elbow.
The game’s best centre has been named to start against the Knights in the sudden-death showdown at Allianz Stadium on Sunday despite fears her season was over following a suspected dislocated elbow.
She was taken from the field early in the final round of the NRLW season, but on Tuesday was cleared of any fracture.
In a club statement, the Roosters said she would work with the medical team ahead of the semi-final which leaves her a chance to take the field.
In another boost, representative duo Jess Sergis (knee) and Tarryn Aiken (shoulder) have both been named on an extended bench for Sunday’s blockbuster and will be given until Saturday to prove they can take the field.
Both are rated a week-to-week chance.
Aiken has missed the past two weeks with an AC joint injury, while Sergis has been battling an MCL injury since going down in round three. This is the first time since she’s been named on the extended bench.
It comes as the Knights prepare for two big inclusions with Rima Butler (knee) and Nita Maynard (ankle) both named to return for the two-time defending premiers.
Butler will start in the front row, while Maynard has been named at No.14.
Meanwhile, the Broncos have named an unchanged line-up to face the Sharks at Totally Workwear Stadium on Sunday despite a number of injury concerns.
Skipper Ali Brigginshaw has shrugged off several niggles, including what was thought to be a sternum injury to be named to face Cronulla, while second-rower and goal kicker Romy Teitzel has also been named despite failing to finish last week’s win over the Dragons.
With Holli Wheeler sidelined, Tegan Dymock has been named to start up front in her place for the Sharks.
While Rhiannon Byers (knee) and Brooke Anderson (HIA) have also been named despite not finishing last week’s loss to the Tigers.
