NRL star grilled over ‘love triangle’ with ex-teammate’s fiancee

Adam Elliott has faced the music after he was allegedly caught in a compromising position with the fiancee of a former teammate.

Ex-NRL star Michael Lichaa charged over alleged domestic violence incident

Canterbury Bulldogs forward Adam Elliott made his long-awaited return on the weekend, scoring a try during Saturday’s 16-12 victory over the Cronulla Sharks.

But when fronting the media on Monday, the 26-year-old was bombarded with questions about his most recent off-season scandal.

Last month, Kara Childerhouse — fiancee of former Bulldogs players Michael Lichaa — allegedly told police she was assaulted after the footballer found her “making out” with Elliott at his Sydney home.

Lichaa was taken to hospital with arm injuries after an alleged altercation in Sydney’s south early, and the 27-year-old was charged with three offences, including common assault.

When asked about the incident on Monday, Elliot responded: “I think the club has dealt with that.

“It’s a private matter, out of all due respect to everyone involved in that I’d like to keep it that way. It was addressed in the statement released by the club.”

Elliot once again played a straight when asked if the ordeal damaged the club: “I think we’ve all got a really good focus on Round 1 right now.

“Everyone turned up to the trial in really good stead. We were really clear on how we wanted to play and how we want to look as a team. I feel that’s the same looking forward to Round 1 against Newcastle.”

Pressed on the incident a third time, Elliott replied: “Like I said, around that whole incident, it’s a private matter.

“I won’t delve into that. I’ve dealt with that as I saw fit with my teammates early on in the piece. All our focus is into playing footy together and supporting each other as a team.

“I think I’m really lucky that I’ve got a really supportive club, teammates and system around me that I was able to focus on for the job I’m here to do. I’m a Dogs man through and through.”

Elliott made headlines in 2018 following “distasteful” Mad Monday celebrations at the Harbour View Hotel.

The 26-year-old dislocated his shoulder during an NRL game against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in July last year, prematurely ending his season.

Following shoulder surgery last year, Elliott’s off-season recovery was plagued by other injuries.

“I tore my bicep on that side and tore my calf in the pre-season,” he told reporters.

“When I tore my calf, it gave me a big period to put a big focus on my shoulder and make sure it’s strong and ready to go and I’m feeling confident.”

The Bulldogs will take on the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday, March 12th.
