The highlights include:

THE Roosters will meet South Sydney in the traditional season-opener on Thursday, March 7, despite a push from the Bulldogs to play Williams and the Roosters;

A WEEK later, the Roosters will take the Sonny Bill Roadshow to Eden Park in Auckland for their clash with the Warriors;

THE replay of last year's grand final between the Bulldogs and Storm will come as soon as round three, to be played in Melbourne;

IN round two, traditional rivals Manly and Newcastle will play a Sunday twilight match at Brookvale Oval, with Andrew Johns' addition to the Sea Eagles coaching staff sure to add extra spice.

Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg had pitched strongly for a first-round clash between the Dogs and Roosters to take advantage of Williams' return to the code.

The Roosters as much as Williams were never going to agree to that, but they were prepared for the Kiwi-born backrower to return to New Zealand in round two.

Anticipating a crowd of more than 30,000 fans, the game has been slated for Eden Park instead of Mount Smart Stadium.

One source in New Zealand said: "It will be a guaranteed sell-out. Sonny Bill is a huge name over here. It makes sense to get him over here early in the year."

There were delays in releasing the draw after broadcasters Channel 9 and Fox Sports sought adjustments. This is the first season that the NRL has released the opening 20 rounds with the dates and venues already decided.

After the Roosters-Souths season-opener on a Thursday night, Brisbane will play Manly the following evening at Suncorp Stadium.

The Broncos-Sea Eagles match will celebrate 25 years since the famous match in 1988 when Brisbane entered the-then NSWRL competition.

Other highlights released to the clubs yesterday included the Wests Tigers hosting the Sharks in a Friday night blockbuster on May 10.

The Raiders and Dragons will meet in another Sunday twilight game in round three, while the Titans meet the Panthers in round 17 in Darwin.And the Eels' first assignment under new coach Ricky Stuart will be the Warriors on March 9.
