Canterbury Bulldogs star Max King has implemented a sex ban with his model fiance, Christy Young, until later in the year.

The duo who announced their engagement on social media only weeks ago, won’t be frolicking between the sheets after King’s ban.

The 25-year-old King met Young at church and the two are going to honour their Christian faith by remaining celibate until they officially tie the knot.

Young was the one to spill the beans on the plan the two had put in place with celibacy talk occurring even on their very first date.

”We are so loud and proud about our faith … it’s never been something we’ve shied away from because it is so important to us,” she told 2DayFM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin show on Wednesday morning.

“We spoke about it (remaining celibate) early on … on the first or second date.

“Christian dating 101 is you’re not wasting anyone’s time, it’s a conversation we didn’t shy away from and honestly we’ve seen such fruit from it in our relationship in terms of communication … it’s just so good.”

The pair were introduced by their pastor with Young saying the celibate act was helping King on the field especially after years of dealing with injury complaints.

“We met at church. I was living on the Gold Coast and he was sitting in front of me … we didn’t talk that day but the pastor set us up. If you want a good guy, find him in church,’ she laughed.

“When it (sex) isn’t the forefront of everything, it’s like we’ve just been able to have such good conversations and build on our relationship, and we have such a good support system for each other.

“It (celibacy) does help his game, in that it’s just that we have such a good foundation in our relationship.”

Young wasn’t convinced the relationship would bloom in the early stages, mainly due to King being involved in the NRL world.

“When I met him I was like ‘oh you’re a footy player, red flag, what have I got myself into’,’ she said.

“For sure [his teammates are supportive] … but when we first started dating they were like ‘as if you guys are’ [abstaining from sex].

“The bible says ‘deny the flesh and God will bless you’: and we’ve seen such fruit from that.

“I feel so blessed to have met Max … we are the puzzle pieces that fit together and it’s all down to God.”

King was a revelation during his first season at the Bulldogs as he thrust his name into the starting line-up.

“Coming to the Dogs, I feel like I’m playing with more peace and more joy with myself. I think that’s really helped because I’m going out now and backing myself,” King said last year.

“I feel like as a team we’ve been playing more footy these past couple of weeks. We’re actually passing it now instead of going one out, and we’re playing a more conventional style that the fans enjoy and you can see it on the scoreboard.”
