PARRAMATTA have held off a late surge from North Queensland to down the defending premiers 20-16 on Saturday night.

Cowboys co-captain Matt Scott was placed on report for a crusher tac, while Eels hooker Nathan Peats suffered an elbow injury.

Earlier on Saturday, the Rabbitohs blew the Knights off the park in a 48-6 master class and the Raiders snuck home against the Roosters 21-20.

Canberra halfback Sam Williams sealed victory with a field goal late in the game.
