Niall Williams has followed in the footsteps of her code-hopping brother Sonny Bill and joined the Gold Coast Titans for the upcoming NRLW season.

The 34-year-old is a star for New Zealand’s rugby sevens team and will join the Titans at the completion of the World Rugby Sevens Series next month.

Williams won an Olympic silver medal with the Black Ferns in rugby sevens at the 2016 Rio Olympics and then snared gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

She missed the Tokyo Olympics with a neck injury but added to her medal haul with a bronze at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The Titans won just a single game in their inaugural season, finishing bottom of the ladder.

Coach Karyn Murphy said Niall Williams would bring an incredible amount to her team for the upcoming season.

“Niall might have a famous surname but she is a very talented athlete in her own right with nearly 20 years of representative experience,” Murphy said.

“Niall will bring an incredible amount of experience and professionalism to our squad, and her extreme athletic ability, speed and agility is why she is a very versatile player that will make a valuable contribution to our team.”

The 10-team NRLW season will begin in July.
