SuperCoach: Round 17 Teams

RISING star Nafe Seluini has been granted an immediate release from the Penrith Panthers to join the Sydney Roosters.

The signing of the promising young hooker comes on the back of the Roosters releasing bench rake Anthony Mitchell to the Cowboys on Monday.

Seluini, a talented 22 year-old who played 19 games with the Penrith Panthers, has signed a one-and-a-half year deal that will see him stay at the Roosters through to the end of next season.

"Nafe is athletic, has terrific speed off the mark and will add some great depth to our interchange, and as a back-up hooker to Jake Friend," said Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan.

"Nafe's best football is ahead of him and we look forward to his developing as part of our team."

Seluini was part of the under 20s New Zealand Warriors side that won the 2010 Toyota Cup Grand Final.

Seluini’s signing is the latest in a string of player movement before Saturday’s transfer deadline.

Krisnan Inu has been a revelation since leaving the Warriors to join the Dogs last month.

Yesterday, Former Rooster Sam Perrett joined the Bulldogs.

Mitchell joined the Cowboys in Monday, while Newcastle prop Richie Fa’aoso is expected to join the Storm before the deadline ends.
