Aussie actor and rugby league personality Matt Nable has suffered a tragedy on the same day as the NRL’s games in Las Vegas.

Australian actor Matt Nable is mourning the death of his younger brother Aaron, who has passed away following a battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Aaron, 46, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2022 and his death was confirmed during the NRL’s season opening weekend in Las Vegas.

Matt Nable, 51, played a handful of games in the Winfield Cup in the 1990s and has gone on to have a stellar acting career portraying a host of gritty characters in Australian dramas.

He has also become synonymous with the NRL and rugby league thanks to his voiceover work and appearances in Fox League’s coverage.

Matty Johns confirmed the news of Aaron’s passing during his post-match show in Las Vegas on Sunday.

“I just want to send my condolences to Fox Sports’ Matty Nable and the entire Nable family over the passing of Matty’s brother Aaron, who was just a terrific, really charismatic guy,” Johns said.

“He had a long battle with Motor Neurone’s and he passed away today. We send our best to Matty and the family.”

Aaron, 46, leaves three sons aged 10, three and one.

He was a former national amateur boxing champion, who was trained by legendary coach Johnny Lewis and sparred with Kostya Tszyu.

“This disease, what it does is just the hardest thing to watch,” Matt told the told the Sydney Morning Herald last year.

“One in 200 people gets MND.

“In 1985, it was one in 500, so there’s something environmental that’s causing that spike. And it’s important they find a cure, because what it does to a human being is catastrophic.

“It’s the definition of sadness.”

The Nable family has raised more than $100,000 via a GoFundMe for Aaron’s young family and MND Research.
