Manly supporter’s ‘cheeky’ move in Gold Coast annihilation

The commentators were in stitches after this Manly support’s cheeky move, but it’s fair to say Justin Holbrook was not overly amused.

It’s fair to say Justin Holbrook was not overly impressed with this Manly fan.

A rival supporter left the Gold Coast Titans coach seething as the Sea Eagles annihilated their opponents at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Manly dived over four times in the first half, while the Titans failed to register a point before the break.

And a spectator sitting directly below Holbrook couldn’t resist an opportunity to rub salt into the wounds.

The Sea Eagles were leading 26-0 in the 38th minute when a woman draped in Manly merch held a child above her head in a reverse Simba pose.

The youngster, who was donning a maroon hoodie, blocked Holbrook’s view of the action from the coach’s box.

The Manly supporter giggled after the rebellious act, as did the Fox League commentators — but Holbrook understandably didn’t find it very amusing.

“What do you reckon Justin Holbrook thinks about the young Manly fan getting a bird’s-eye view of him at 26 points to nil?” commentator Warren Smith laughed on Fox League.

“He was fairly calm and controlled, wasn’t he? He was entitled to say something to the youngster or the mum lifting him up in a Manly hoodie.”

Balmain great Steve Roach replied: “They’re cheeky, aren’t they?”

Sea Eagles winger Jason Saab scored his second try immediately after halftime before Reuben Garrick extended Manly’s lead to 36 soon after.

In his long-awaited return from injury, superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic contributed 202 run metres, nine tackle busts, two linebreaks, two linebreak assists, a try and two try assists against the Titans.

“You never anticipate games like this,” Trbojevic told ABC Grandstand after thw 36-0 win.

“I know how hard I’ve worked in the past couple of months ... it’s just good to be back out here playing footy.”

Manly will next face the Wests Tigers at Bankwest Stadium, while Gold Coast will host the South Sydney Rabbitohs next weekend.
