‘Luai is a grub’: Broncos star takes aim at rival over Origin moment

State of Origin drama is already raging with a Queensland star taking a swipe at his NSW rival over an ugly moment.

Brisbane Broncos star Selwyn Cobbo has sensationally branded Jarome Luai “a grub” after the Penrith Panthers five-eighth stood over him during State of Origin when he was knocked out cold.

Cobbo saw just two minutes of action in Origin III before he was knocked unconscious when his head smacked against the hip of Maroons teammate Patrick Carrigan.

As Cobbo laid on the ground, Luai stood over him as Maroons teammates rushed in to protect their fallen teammate and take aim at Luai.

Although Luai stated at the time he didn’t know Cobbo was knocked out and even spoke to him after the game, the Broncos star has evidently not forgotten about the incident.

And with the Broncos taking on the Panthers at BlueBet Stadium in the first round of the NRL season, Cobbo is no doubt looking to take revenge on Luai.

“I don’t know why he [Luai] did that,” Cobbo told the Back of the 135 podcast.

“He’s just a grub.

“It was pretty disappointing. It was in Brissie so all my family was there too.

“Two minutes in, I get knocked out. I was pretty upset in the sheds when the doctor said I couldn’t go back on.

“Luai is a grub.”

Cobbo’s comments on Luai were on the same podcast he infamously labelled his Broncos boss Kevin Walters as “a good bloke but not the best coach.”
