NORTH Queensland smashed St George Illawarra 36-0 to stay unbeaten at 1300 SMILES Stadium this year.

The Cowboys made 280 tackles over the 80 minutes to keep the visitors off the board, something their captain Johnathan Thurston credited the engine room for.

“We pride ourselves on defence,” Thurston said.

“The big boys in the middle deserve a lot of credit.”
