PENRITH have produced a second-half comeback to down Parramatta 22-18 in a thrilling contest at Pepper Stadium.
With seven games remaining in the regular season, the result now ends any hope the Eels had of playing finals football, while the Panthers continue to keep their chances alive sitting just outside the eight.
The Eels went into the break 18-6 up after a two tries to rookie Bevan French.
It was a different story in the final 40, with the Mountain Men crossing three times in just 11 minutes to smatch the lead.
It was a frantic final 20 minutes, but the Panthers were able to hang on and outlast a Blue and Gold onslaught.
Earlier, a gallant Newcastle outfit lost 20-16 in a tight contest with Melbourne at Hunter Stadium.
