Late twist as Brisbane Broncos move in on Rabbitohs star Adam Reynolds

The Broncos have reportedly made a monster, eleventh hour play to steal Adam Reynolds’ signature from under the Sharks’ nose.

The Broncos have reportedly made an eleventh hour play for Adam Reynolds just days after the Sharks had all-but wrapped a deal up.

It was reported earlier this week the Rabbitohs star had received an offer he couldn’t refuse from Cronulla, having made the decision his future no longer includes South Sydney.

Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon has also spoken to Reynolds in an attempt to seal the deal.

The halfback is set to quit the Bunnies after a drawn-out negotiation process that saw South Sydney refuse to budge on a one-year contract extension offer.

His move to the Sharks would be a huge domino to fall in the NRL’s playmaker feeding frenzy, coming in the same week Broncos halfback Tom Dearden announced his decision to join the Cowboys next year.

Just when it appeared the Reynolds saga was over, reports emerged Friday the Broncos have launched a huge play to steal the former NSW State of Origin star’s signature from under the Sharks’ nose.

Triple M’s Ben Dobbin reported Friday Broncos coach Kevin Walters and new CEO Dave Donaghy are set to fly to Sydney to meet with Reynolds with a monster offer.

The report revealed the Broncos will table a three-year contract through to the end of the 2024 season — and will use the club’s captaincy as further bait to convince Reynolds not to accept the Sharks’ offer.

The Courier-Mail has also reported the Broncos’ offer will almost match the Sharks’ reported $2.4 million deal, and will be worth more than $2 million across the three seasons.

The Rabbitohs have reportedly refused to budge on a one-year offer worth around the $800,000 mark.

It is a further nail in the coffin of star playmaker Anthony Milford’s time with the Broncos.

The Broncos are reportedly also discussing recruitment plays for Parramatta’s Mitchell Moses, Cronulla’s Shaun Johnson and even under-contract superstars Daly Cherry-Evans and Kalyn Ponga.

Walters has made no attempt to hide the fact that he wants to recruit an established, star halfback for the 2022 season.

Walters has failed to pull the club out of its downwards spiral since taking over as coach and the club’s playmaking combinations have been a complete mess with Brodie Croft, Milford and Dearden all struggling.

The club has already tabled a rich deal for Kotoni Staggs and the club reportedly sees the centre as the club’s future five-eighth.

Manly star Cherry-Evans was on Thursday linked to the Rabbitohs as a replacement for Reynolds with rugby league legend Andrew Johns and NSW State of Origin coach Brad Fittler revealing they had heard rumours of the Rabbitohs’ interest in the 32-year-old.

It comes after Sharks playmaker Chad Townsend last week announced he is also moving to the Cowboys on a three-year deal.
