The Knights have re-signed young prop Josh King on a one-year extension

NEWCASTLE coach Nathan Brown’s bid to keep the club’s best young talent away from cashed-up rivals over the next two seasons has been boosted with the re-signing of prop Josh King.
King, already under contract for 2017, has put pen to paper on a one-year extension that will tie him to the Knights until the end of 2018, joining the likes of this season’s debutants Daniel and Jacob Saifiti, Jack Cogger, and Cory Denniss who have previously inked similar deals.
“Josh is a good person with a great work ethic,” Brown said.
“Over the journey, he will continue to develop into a player that other players want to play with.”
King was born in Maitland, played his junior football with the Singleton Greyhounds and has progressed through the Knights’ system.
He has featured in eight NRL games for the Knights this season despite holding down a job as an electrical apprentice in a Hunter Valley coalmine.
“Josh is a good local talent and it is pleasing he is rewarded with a contract extension,” Brown added.
On Sunday, the 21-year-old will start at prop for the first time when the Knights take on Manly at Brookvale Oval.
