Hopoate thrilled with team

DARIUS Boyd has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming World Cup, after continued problems with his hamstring injury.

Penrith winger Josh Mansour has been called into the Australian squad this morning, with Boyd ruled out following a team medical session on Thursday in Sydney.

It is the same injury he carried throughout Brisbane’s finals campaign.

Coach Mal Meninga said in a statement it was “disappointing” for the long-serving Kangaroo.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for Darius, who has been a fantastic player for the Kangaroos,” Meninga said.

“It will be wonderful to see Josh back in the Kangaroos jersey after his injury in last year’s Four Nations.

“I know how disappointed he was to be injured last year and I know how passionate he is about the green and gold.

“It is a credit to him that he has been able to return to the highest representative honours.”

This is the second change the Kangaroos have been forced to make after Andrew Fifita this morning switched his allegiance to Tonga.

Panthers forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard was named as his replacement.
