Jessica Sergis' sheer Dally M dress sparks social media storm

The stunning Dally M dress included an ‘underwear illusion’ that got more than a few people hot under the collar.

An NRLW star has copped awful comments about her outfit on the sport’s night of nights.

Jessica Sergis, who plays for the Sydney Roosters, attended the Dally M’s with Manly star Tommy Talau.

Sergis, one of the most well known female players in the sport, wore a sheer black dress to the event, with the off-shoulder dress having an added layer to cover her bust.

The dress also had more layers of fabric over her waist, meeting under her navel and flowing between her legs.

Her hair was styled in loose curls around her face, with the power couple all smiles as they posed for the cameras.

Sergis revealed to The Daily Telegraph that “beauty was pain” and revealed she had “suffered a wardrobe malfunction” with a clip holding the dress in place in the back.

However, despite the fact that Sergis looked impeccable in her gown, some people had some not so great things to say about it.

“Thought the amount of near nudity at red carpet events was ceasing. It’s a shame. Beautiful woman, fabulous figure, the dress not so much. Can we go back to classy and elegant,” said one social media user.

Another said: “What is she wearing, bro?”

One said: “She’s wearing a curtain.”

“Oh my goodness, might as well wear nothing at all,” another social media user said.

One added: “I’m sure she’s a great player and lovely girl … but nah.”

“Should’ve just wore a bikini at that point,” another responded.

But, some were quick to defend her including queen of the Dally M red carpet Kaylah Collins, who did not attend the 2025 event.

“I’m so for this,” the PR maven said on social media.

Another social media user said: “Hatersssss!!!! she looks amazing y’all mad you can’t rock it bahahahahahah.”

Another said while she looked “gorgeous” they wouldn’t consider the dress “red carpet attire”.

“No doubt it was a design challenge and I believe it succeeded in feminising what some may consider a classically masculine physique,” one said.

Yes she’s not 100 per cent at ease, which is completely normal, but she carries it well with a laugh and a smile. Good on you. A warriors heart on and off the field.”
