The Roosters have re-signed two of their biggest NRLW stars, with Jess Sergis and Tarryn Aiken committing to the club as it looks to bounce back from another heartbreaking early finals exit.

Mystery surrounded their squad for next year, with only five players – including Isabelle Kelly and Millie Elliott – signed on for 2024, but Monday’s announcement is huge news for the Roosters who have been bundled out in the semis in each of the past two seasons.

Rep star Jess Sergis was the biggest name off contract but has signed a monster four-year extension that ensures she and Kelly can continue to terrorise defences as the game’s most destructive centre pairing.

A gruesome finger injury restricted her to just six appearances in 2023, but she still scored seven tries and then returned for the Jillaroos against New Zealand.

“There’s such a good feeling at the club and whether it’s at training or on the footy field, everyone’s committed to pushing to get the best out of themselves,” Sergis said.

“I’m a Rooster through and through, so I’m stoked to know that I’ll be here for at least the next four years.”

Aiken, meanwhile, has re-signed for a further two seasons after making a successful move from the Broncos in 2023.

The dynamic five-eighth set up 10 tries and finished just one vote behind Dally M winner Tamika Upton after dominating on the left edge with some stunning solo tries.

“I really enjoyed my first year as a Rooster and I know that there’s a lot more improvement in me as a player and us as a team, so I’m excited about what’s to come over the next few years,” the Queensland and Australia star said.

Coach John Strange is already preparing for a blockbuster season opener against the Knights on July 25, with the star duo set to feature heavily in his plans.

“Tarryn and Jess are among the most talented and committed athletes in the NRLW. Their decision to extend their contracts with the Sydney Roosters is a testament to the club’s culture and our shared ambition for success,” he said.

“It’s exciting to know that they will continue to be part of the team we have here in the coming years.”
