Herbie Farnworth’s cheeky celebration after injured Mitchell Moses’ ‘tremendous’ act
Nothing went right for the Parramatta Eels on Friday night, and this cheeky act from Herbie Farnworth rubbed salt into their wounds.
Nothing went right for the Parramatta Eels on Friday night, missing 25 tackles and on the wrong end of a 24-0 scoreline against the Brisbane Broncos.
But if there was one player who could hold their head high it was halfback Mitchell Moses.
Moses, who suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone early in the game, showed the sort of defensive commitment Parramatta as a whole was otherwise lacking in the final minutes of the first half.

It came after teammate Bailey Simonsson threw a wayward pass that was intercepted by Deine Mariner, who later linked with teammate Herbie Farnworth in space on the left edge.
Farnworth raced away and seemed a certainty to score untouched until a desperate chase from Moses saw the Broncos centre almost pulled up short of the line.
Farnworth ended up scoring the try, capping it off with a cheeky celebration as he ran backwards into Parramatta’s in-goal area.

But the fact Moses had made that chase with a suspected broken cheekbone made it all the more impressive from the Eels halfback.
“Terrific work from Mitchell Moses,” Cooper Cronk said in commentary.
“He gets there, has the attempt but Herbie is that fast he can run backwards and still score the try.
“Strong defence, turn it into attack... Herbie Farnworth with all the tricks, fends Mitchell Moses and a little kiss to put the ball down.”
“The kids tomorrow at junior rugby league [will be saying], ‘Well, if Herbie Farnworth did it, I’ll run backwards to score a try’. Look at the smiles on the Brisbane players,” added Andrew Voss.
Cronk, meanwhile, said the fact Farnworth was able to execute the play in such a big moment while still finding the time to enjoy himself spoke volumes to Brisbane’s dominance this year.
“That’s what you love, the confidence,” Cronk said.
“The ability to play the big moments and still enjoy it. The offload from Mariner was superb as well... a tremendous effort [from Moses]. Moses to his credit gets there but the fend, turn, tumble, reverse and put-down.”
