Jared Waerea-Hargreaves’ swinging arm would have taken someone’s head off and left him suspended for a very long time.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves took a big swing.

Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves would have been looking at a long suspension if a swinging arm had connected with its intended target in the win over the Cowboys.

In the 60th minute, Waerea-Hargreaves took exception to a tackle from Jordan McLean and came up to play-the-ball with a huge swinging left hook at marker Peta Hiku, who was also in the tackle.

The swinging arm avoided Hiku by millimetres thankfully, for its intended target and Waerea-Hargreaves.

“Oh he gets up swinging Jared Waerea-Hargreaves,” Andrew Voss said on Fox League.

“The big left arm.”

Roosters dummyhalf then produced a stray pass to allow the Cowboys to march the ball 100 metres only to be denied what would have been an epic long-range try in a frantic sequence.

“Well Waerea-Hargreaves took an almighty swing and then Connor Watson out of dummyhalf found no one,” Greg Alexander said.

“The bouncing ball picked up by Kyle Feldt.”

Feldt marched the ball up to the 50 metre line, before Jake Granville, Chad Townsend and Tom Dearden spread the ball wide.

Valentine Holmes then appeared to bat a pass on to Murray Taulagi to score in the far corner.

However, replays showed Holmes knocked the ball on in attempting to catch it and the try was denied.

“A bit has happened in that last 30 seconds,” Voss said.

“Watch this (swing from Waerea-Hargreaves). He was watching the Oscars.”

Voss was of course referencing actor Will Smith’s infamous swinging arm at Chris Rock at last week’s Oscars ceremony.
