‘He should be having baths’: Storm unsure when Cameron Munster will return after shower slip

Plenty of Cameron Munster’s teammates have had a bit of fun with his Fiji shower slip but it’s proving a bigger problem than anyone thought.

Storm star Jahrome Hughes has jokingly urged halves partner Cameron Munster to stop taking showers after the representative playmaker was ruled out for the second week in a row with a groin injury.

Munster slipped in the shower during the team’s time in Fiji for a pre-season game against the Knights, with the injury proving to be worse than first thought for the 29-year-old.

It comes a year after he missed a couple of games early in the season with a gruesome finger injury, with the Storm unable to provide a clear timetable on when he might return.

The Storm showed they can get the job done without him with young gun Jonah Pezet helping them beat the Panthers 8-0 to extend their incredible round one record, and Hughes says there’s no need to rush him back.

“Hopefully he’s not having too many showers. He should be having baths or something, someone should bathe him,” he joked.

“He’s going well. He’s doing all his rehab and he’s one of the guys who loves to be out there and he’s a competitor so he’s doing everything right to get back.

“It’d be good to have him back, but we thought Jonah did a really good job last week.

“We won’t rush Munster to come back. It’s a long year, but he’s itching to come back.”

While Munster missed the game last week, the Warriors welcomed Roger Tuivasa-Sheck back for their round one loss to the Sharks after his stint in rugby union.

The Storm are on high alert given his ability to make defenders look silly with his footwork, and Hughes knows exactly what Tuivasa-Sheck can do at centre given they played together for the Kiwis.

“It’s good to see ‘Rog’ back,” Hughes said ahead of Melbourne’s game against the Warriors.

“It’s not really good when you play him, but it’s good to have him back in the game.

“He’s a true professional and such a great athlete so it’s good to have him back in our game.

“I know the Warriors are happy to have him back, and he’s definitely one guy we’ll have to have an eye on this weekend.

“Hopefully we can slow his opportunities down because he’s such a good player.”
