The Brisbane Broncos’ slender finals hopes rested on the shoulders of the Wests Tigers against the Canberra Raiders.

They needed a miracle with the Tigers needing to win by over 40 points. Their hopes were dashed in the early minutes of the contest on Sunday and the Raiders never looked back as they recorded the 56-10 win.

Locked into eighth spot on the ladder, the Raiders put the foot on the Tigers throat and never relented as they stormed home seven first half tries.

Matthew Timoko got the party started in the fifth minute before Sebastian Kris and Nick Cotric crossed over the next seven minutes.

Jordan Rapana, Hudson Young, Xavier Savage and Jamal Fogarty all scored in an 11-minute span as the home crowd was left in stunned silence.

The defensive line fell apart over and again for the Tigers as the Raiders continually broke through and peppered the try line.

As the onslaught continued, fans watching on eviscerated the Tigers and the nightmare display they were witnessing.

The Fox Sports commentary team labelled the first half everything from diabolic to absolutely pathetic and embarrassing in what is their final game of the 2022 season in front of their home fans.

The Raiders’ first half dominance locked up eighth spot on the ladder and saw them come out of the sheds with their foot well and truly off the gas.

Looking to avoid any injuries before an elimination final next weekend against the Melbourne Storm, the Raiders coasted over the final 40 minutes.

Despite slowing down, the Raiders still won the second half 14-10 as the Tigers finally hit the scoreboard.

In the dying minutes the evacuation alarm began to ring out across the stadium, but it was far too late to save the Tigers from what was an ugly day at the office.
