Dodgy groin won't stop Queensland Maroons lock Ashley Harrison from taking on the NSW Blues in State of Origin II

QUEENSLAND lock Ashley Harrison has pledged to push through the pain of chronic groin injury and play in Origin II.

QUEENSLAND and Gold Coast lock Ashley Harrison has pledged to push through the pain of chronic groin injury and lead the Maroons to a record seventh-straight State of Origin series victory.

Harrison is battling a persistent groin injury which required a cortisone injection earlier this week. The strained adductor has also been linked to a mild case of osteitis pubis.

The Titans lock was a shining light in the Maroons' 18-10 win over NSW in Melbourne, finishing third in the Queensland players' player voting behind Brent Tate and Nate Myles.

The 31-year-old admitted he would need some rest during Queensland's preparations this week and coach Mal Meninga has named Broncos lock Corey Parker 18th man in case Harrison or Matt Scott (family reasons) can't play.

But Harrison brushed aside any concerns about his availability, saying he is a certainty to run on to ANZ Stadium next Wednesday.

"I had a cortizone shot in it and will have a couple of days off running. It has been a little bit [ongoing]. It's just an adductor type pain and they seem to think the injection will settle it right down. It's nothing major," he said.

"It's a little bit of that [osteitis pubis]. It's weird because I didn't even have the symptoms or pain for that. It was more my adductor being tight.

"It's [pain] been there but it hasn't forced me to do anything about it. It's just now got to the stage where the next thing to do was get an injection.

"I've got a couple of days up my sleeve and a long week so it was the best time to get it done.

"I'll be fine [to play]. Blokes have these every week, it just happens to be Origin week that gives me the best opportunity for it to settle down."

Harrison made 41 tackles and 15 runs in Origin I and was the only Queensland forward (apart from hooker Cameron Smith) to play the full game.
