And the Coal Train knows only a standout performance for Souths against Brisbane on Friday night will be enough to keep his spot for Origin III.

Taylor's forgettable game led to talk of Kiwi-born Sam Kasiano being brought in for the July 4 decider as his replacement.

But Taylor has every intention of reminding Maroons selectors of why they should not bother with Kasiano and look no further than him.

"I was very disappointed with my game, and obviously dropped ball hurt me," said Taylor, who made zero linebreaks, tackle busts or offloads during the 16-12 loss.

"Origin games are always so tight, and one or two mistakes can definitely cost games. I was quite nervous, but you can't really use that as an excuse. (Coach) Mal (Meninga) said to keep your head up and work hard on the little things. I'll go out and play for Souths and hopefully the opportunities come off that. I'm definitely keen to get back out there and have a crack. I'm desperate to play any Origin game."

Talk of Taylor being punted has been seen by some north of the border as a way to motivate the 122kg wrecking ball. Blues coach Ricky Stuart told The Daily Telegraph he did not expect any changes and Taylor to play.

As Taylor prepared for training at Redfern Oval yesterday, several teammates hoped he could fire for Souths, then back up at Suncorp Stadium 12 days later for Queensland.

"I'd have him there, for sure," John Sutton said.

In good news for Bunnies fans, Greg Inglis appeared at training yesterday and will definitely play against the Broncos, despite concerns over his left elbow.
