JILLAROOS captain Ruan Sims is most at home in her footy boots and jumper but is looking forward to frocking up with the rest of the Australian Women’s Rugby League Team for this month’s Dally M Awards.

“I’m excited to dress up and particularly look forward to the fact that someone else has to do my hair and makeup,” she said.

This month’s ceremony will be Sims’ first Dally Ms following last year’s addition of the Female Player of the Year award.

“To go for the first time and be a nominee is a huge honour for me,” she said.

Sims said the NRL’s recognition of its female players was reflective of a wider shift towards supporting women’s sport.

“I truly believe the NRL are forward-thinking about women in the game.

“They may not act with the swiftness people might like, but when they act, they act properly.

“It just shows that women’s sport is on the rise and that people are interested in it and they want to see more of it.”
