Cronulla Sharks welcome new recruits Beau Ryan, Chris Heighington, Luke Lewis and Michael Gordon into fold
A PLATOON of high-profile recruits have been ushered into the Cronulla Sharks fold, with coach Shane Flanagan shouting them lunch.
WELCOME to the Shire, fellas.
A platoon of high-profile recruits were yesterday ushered into the Sharks fold when coach Shane Flanagan shouted them lunch at the Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking set on picturesque Gunnamatta Bay.
The Wests Tigers pair of Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington were finally confirmed yesterday, and they were joined by former Penrith teammates Luke Lewis and Michael Gordon, who both announced earlier in the season they were Shire-bound.
Sharks captain Paul Gallen and current players Wade Graham, Bryce Gibbs, John Morris and Todd Carney were also in attendance.
It might have been a casual meeting but it showed how far the Sharks have come since the days when they struggled to sign quality players.
"We've got a roster we can be proud of," Flanagan said.
"To add these players to the side that did so well this year is really pleasing.
"But now we've got the cattle, we have to make sure we do something with it."
As for who paid, the coach said bluntly: "Me".
