Christian and Muslim come together for a league leap of two faiths

ONE is a Hillsong Christian pastor and the other a Muslim cleric but they have one thing in common - their rabid support for the NSW Blues.

ONE is a Christian pastor and the other a Muslim cleric but they have one thing in common - their support for the Blues.

With NSW staring down the barrel of its seventh consecutive State of Origin series loss, Hillsong's Brian Houston and Sheik Moussaab Legha from the Lakemba Mosque have urged Sydney people of all denominations to keep the faith.

That includes wearing anything blue today - wherever you are - to help celebrate Bluesday.

"I have to confess, mine (his faith in the Blues) has been shaken," Mr Houston admitted.

"But I think faith works best when your back is against the wall."

The Blues are certainly up against the wall this year - but have selected an attacking line-up to counter the flair of Billy Slater, Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk.

"Queensland are big, strong, fast, scary," Houston said.

"But most importantly, they are beatable. Wherever there is life, there is hope."

Sheik Legha said he first began watching State of Origin when the now-retired Bulldogs legend Hazem el Masri played for the Blues.

"It was because of him I started loving the game," he said.

"He was fantastic when he played Origin."

Both leaders are predicting the drought to end this year.

"No matter what you believe, there's no harm in trying a little prayer ... it's worked many times for me," Houston said.

"I have to admit, the jury is still out on whether or not God answers our sporting prayers, though, considering I am a long time supporter of the Parramatta Eels."
